“Nothing can dim the light that comes from within.” —Maya Angelou
If you ask any photographer to tell you the key to taking a beautiful image, they will all tell you one thing: light. There are a ton of educational resources out there for photographers, but a workshop that goes back to this fundamental element of photography is certainly a special one!
My first interaction with Ann, host of The Chasing Light Workshop, was at my sweet friend Erica’s wedding. Ann’s images are stunning, and she is one of the most kind and thoughtful people you’ll ever meet, so when I saw that she was planning a workshop, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to spend a day soaking up the information she would share.
Alongside 10 other attendees, I had the chance to learn about the basics of the craft, the business of being a photographer, and even how to foster vendor relationships. It was great to hear unique perspectives from Ann, wedding planner Geomyra Lewis, and floral designer Beth Trenti. Yes, light is important for taking a photograph, but you also have to be a light in the industry and invest your time and energy into other people to be successful! I love that I have the opportunity to serve others through my photography.
After a delicious dinner together, we were able to photograph a phenomenal styled shoot under the creative direction of Geomyra and Beth. I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites! Thank you to all of the vendors who were a part of this incredible day!
